why WordPress?

WordPress, Squarespace, Wix and AI builders

Why we build with WordPress, and when something else is perfectly fine.

What do you build sites on?

Client sites are built on WordPress with the Bricks builder and our own Itersi Site Kit. It's a very widely used system, and many developers know it.

Why WordPress?

Because a WordPress site can move to another host, there's a huge choice of booking and SEO tools, and you control your speed and content. The trade-off is that it needs updates and care, which our plans cover.

Is WordPress better than Squarespace for a dietitian?

It depends on what you want. WordPress gives you more control and is easier to move, and Squarespace is a fine choice if you want to build alone and rarely change it.

Is WordPress better than Wix?

For control and being able to move your site, usually yes. Wix is a fine choice if you want to try things yourself cheaply, but its sites can't be hosted elsewhere.

Can I move my Wix site away?

Your domain can leave, but Wix says its sites can't be hosted elsewhere, so the site has to be rebuilt. Your words and images can be reused.

Can I move my Squarespace site to WordPress?

Partly. Squarespace exports some content to a WordPress file, but store pages, some blocks, style settings and custom CSS don't come across, and images need saving by hand. We rebuild the site and bring your content across.

What if I build my whole website using AI?

You can, but without website or server experience, an AI tool may hand you files that you then have to learn to host and serve yourself. When you ask for a change later, it can get things wrong or redesign the whole site, so updates and upkeep become hard. Your job is helping your clients, not learning websites and servers, which takes years of experience. Learning to use AI is a good thing, but it shouldn't become your full-time job.

What experience does Itersi have with WordPress and servers?

Omar has worked as a developer since 2019 and on WordPress since 2020, including building sites, moving them between hosts, managing servers and fixing plugin conflicts. He founded Itersi in 2022.

Is WordPress safe?

It can be, when it's kept up to date and well set up. No website system is automatically safe. On our plans, we handle the updates and backups.

Will I have to learn WordPress?

No. We do the website work. If you'd like to write your own posts or add services, there's a simple editor, and you can leave the rest to us.

Can I write my own blog posts?

Yes, whenever you like. Your site comes with a simple way to add posts and pick images.

Can I add services myself?

Yes. You can add and edit services yourself, or send us the change as one of your small edits.

Do you move an existing site from Squarespace, Wix or Showit? What happens to my SEO?

Yes, we rebuild it on WordPress and bring your content across. We keep your good page addresses where we can and redirect the old ones, which protects most of what you've built, though no one can guarantee rankings through a move.

Is WordPress automatically faster or better for Google?

No. Google doesn't favour one platform. Speed and search results come from how a site is built and what it says, which is why we pay attention to both.

Does Google penalise Wix or Squarespace sites?

No. Plenty of Wix and Squarespace sites do well. Choose a platform for control, moving and upkeep, not out of fear of a penalty.

What about Showit?

Showit is popular for its design freedom, especially with creative businesses. Its sites can't be moved as freely as a WordPress site, so ask about that if owning a portable site matters to you.

Do I need a page builder like Elementor or Divi?

You don't need to think about it. We use Bricks because it produces clean, fast pages, and you can edit your content without touching the design.
