Who builds websites for dietitians? How to choose

Websites for dietitians are built by four kinds of people: you, a general freelancer, a specialist agency or a done-for-you company on a monthly plan. The right one depends on your budget, your time and how much of the work you want to think about.

The four options

Doing it yourself. It costs the least money and the most time. Good if you enjoy it and your practice is simple.

A general freelancer. They may be skilled and affordable, but they may not know about credentials, referrals or health privacy, so you'd have to guide them. Ask what happens after launch.

A specialist agency. These know your field. Many offer strategy, custom design and marketing, and published prices commonly start around $2,500 and can reach $15,000. Good if you have the budget and want a custom brand.

A done-for-you plan. A company builds from a strong system and charges a lower monthly or one-time fee. Good if you want it handled, and don't need a custom brand. Itersi works this way, so keep that in mind as you read.

Questions to ask anyone

  1. Who owns the site? Ask what you get if you leave. "You own it" should come with details.
  2. Who holds my domain? It should be you, in your own account.
  3. What happens after launch? Who updates it, backs it up and fixes it?
  4. What does a small change cost?
  5. What happens if I stop paying?
  6. Have you worked with credentials like mine?
  7. Who will I actually talk to?

Red flags

  • Guaranteed rankings. Nobody controls Google.
  • "HIPAA compliant website" as a blanket claim. It depends on your whole setup.
  • Fake urgency. "Only 2 spots left" may be true, so ask why.
  • Hidden prices with pressure to book a call first. Some good designers do quote privately, but you should still understand the range quickly.
  • Your domain in their account.
  • Fake or unverifiable reviews. Fake reviews are banned under FTC rules, so look for reviews on outside sites.
  • Promises of clients or income.

Signs of someone good

  • They ask about who you help before talking about design.
  • They ask you to check credentials and health claims.
  • They tell you when a cheaper option would do.
  • They explain the trade-offs of their own service.
  • They warn you not to collect health details in a contact form.

An honest note about us

Itersi's strength is clear pricing and a low start. Omar isn't a dietitian, and we don't offer deep brand strategy on these plans. If you want a former dietitian to design a custom brand, there are good people who do that, and it's worth paying for if it fits your goals.

If you'd like it handled at a clear price, see our two plans, or ask Omar a question.
